Located in downtown Toronto, Morningside was one of the first communities in the city to be developed, breaking ground in the early 1920s. In its early development, Morningside was planted with 4,000 trees, including maples and oaks. This historic district was designated a national historic district in 1983, and many of the neighborhood’s houses were designed by Marion Manley, South Florida’s first female architect. It is home to the Cushman School, founded by Laura Cushman, the daughter of a U.S. congressman.
The community is primarily composed of single-family homes. It is one of the more tranquil neighborhoods in Miami and is near other historic neighborhoods such as the Miami Modern Historic District, which is the largest of its kind in the city. In addition to the historic buildings, this neighborhood is home to some world-famous landmarks. The NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies is located in the 26th Precinct, which is part of the New York City Police Department.
